Support Us

You can support the Acorn Centre in several ways...

The Acorn Centre is a not for profit run charity which means we only raise enough money to pay our running costs.

Our budget this year (2009-2010) is £20,967.01. This includes all the costs for running the centre. Each year we have to raise around £10,000 to add to the money we receive through gifts, training courses that we offer and supervision. It is becoming harder and harder to access funding from grant making trusts, we work very hard to do this but this also takes us away from carrying out the services we offer.

Grant Applications:

Fund Raising:
(We will post details of up and coming fund raising activities on our web site please check on a regular basis for information regarding these)

April 26th - The Acorn Centre is taking part in The Rotary Walk this year, this is a series of walks that comprise of the big walk 21 miles (currently 2 people are doing this) and two shorter ones of 8 and 11 miles (currently 2/3 people are doing one of these). If you would like to support us as we complete these walks please contact us for details of how to make a donation.

Training courses:
(Details of training days can be found on our web pages under training)

Ad Hoc funding:
(This includes client donations please read further down)

If you would like to make a donation either on a one off basis or more regularly then please contact us and we will supply any information you would like.

Counselling services:

Fees

All the counselling at the Acorn Centre is offered free of charge, however as a charity we do have to find the funds to allow this service to be offered.

Although we would like to continue to offer our services free of charge it is becoming more difficult for us to access funding from grant making trusts etc and although we work hard on fund raising activities this takes us away from the main work, of running the centre.

Each counselling session costs us as an agency £20.00 to provide, however we are very aware that this can represent a considerable amount of money for most people. We are trialling a new system currently where we would suggest that if you would like to make voluntary donations, the amount you give per session would be the same as your own hourly rate. So for example if you earn £4.20 an hour then you would donate £4.20 per counselling session.
Please could you consider whether you are able to help support us, and so the continuing service in this way?

If you would like to Gift Aid your donation then information is provided below:

Gift Aid (explained)

You may have been asked by your counsellor/member of the agency when talking about making a voluntary donation towards your counselling or a donation if you would like to Gift Aid this.

You may be concerned about confidentiality being protected, we do all we can to protect this but legally we do have to keep your details in case the Inland Revenue  wants to check any claims we make are all above board.

To fulfil the Inland Revenue demands we will need to keep a record of all voluntary donations that are Gift Aided. This record will be kept on our computer, your name will be there and a code, with the amount you have donated. No other identifying details will be there.

Nothing else will be divulged.  If after reading this you feel you would not like to Gift Aid please do not feel worried about this.

If you have any further concerns about this please ask and we will do our best to answer them.

The people who know you are donating in this way would be:

  • Your counsellor
  • Our treasurer
  • Inland Revenue if they visit to carry out a check
